The Associazione Italiana per la Terminologia (Ass.I.Term) and the Italian section of the International Society for Knowledge Organization (ISKO Italia), in cooperation with the Laboratorio di Documentazioneof the Università della Calabria (LabDoc - UNICAL), are organizing the XXVI Ass.I.Term International Conference “Terminology and knowledge organization in preserving digital memories”. The confernece aims to stimulate discussion and facilitate information exchange within the framework of terminological and terminographical research, as well as knowledge management for the preservation of digital memories.On the third day the annual Ass.I.Term assembly will take place.
The Conference will take place from April 14th to 16th 2016, at the University Club of the Università della Calabria (Via P. Bucci, Cubo 23 – Rende (CS), Italy).

The Associazione Italiana per la Terminologia (Ass.I.Term) is a scientific non-profit association founded in Rome in 1991 with the aim of connecting different scientific areas interested in the study and the dissemination of sectorial and special languages: public administration, universities, research centers, publishing industry, high schools for interpreters and translators, and documentalists. Ass.I.Term intends to:
· promote technical and scientific information in Italian through the enhancement of terminology and sectorial and special languages;
· facilitate scientific and professional relationships among Italian terminologists, who participate, support or organize conferences, training sessions or meetings, both in Italy and abroad;
· promote the enrichment of scientific and technical Italian terminology, and the collection of related information and knowledge;
· promote the dissemination and coordination of activities related to scientific and technical terminology;
· support education and training in the field of terminology production and management, also with the assignment of grants and scholarships;
· contribute to the achievement of the association's mission through the cooperation with national and international institutions.

The International Society for Knowledge Organization (ISKO) is an international association aimed at studying theoretical, methodological and experimental aspects of knowledge organization. It includes all the semantic approaches to information (classification schemes, thesauri, subject headings, terminology, taxonomies, ontologies and knowledge representation languages) and their application to documentation, research, work organization and society in general. ISKO operates in many countries worldwide. The Italian section was founded in 2004.
The Documentation Laboratory (LabDoc), which was created on April 23rd, 1996 as a research unit belonging to the Department of Linguistics at the University of Calabria, brings together all the expertise in the areas of archival and documentation studies at the University. It is considered a national reference centre for research and consultancy in the fields of documentation organization and management, of indexing and classification systems, and of knowledge and content management, obtaining the recognition of Unesco as an accredited center and the assignment of significant commissions by both the public and private sectors. In the abovementioned areas, the lab promotes and runs post-diploma and post-graduate training courses, as well as technology transfer for Public Administrations. The LabDoc houses the Organizational Support Unit of the Institute of Informatics and Telematics of the Italian National Research Council (NRC), so developing an integrated structure which has created operational synergy between the University and NRC through a model oriented towards the integration between academic culture and applicable and industrial reality.
